Four Reasons Why I Rent My Wardrobe
If we’ve spent any time together recently, you’ve heard me gush about my love for Nuuly, a clothing-rental site that has completely changed the way I shop.
I used to be the type that had two closets, one for the current season and one for storage. I had additional clothes that I was selling on Poshmark, or prepping for the consignment store, taking up space in a third closet. So, clothing rental is just the bee’s knees in my book and here are the reasons why I’m loving this service:
IT SAVES TIME: As a working mom, my time to browse the mall is slim. And frankly, while that used to be a fun way to kill a couple of hours, now it just feels a little stressful. Packing my kids in the car, getting them into the stroller, running through the mall to grab whatever I need in a hurry….and then having buyer’s remorse and having to deal with returns. Ugh, no thank you. So, having clothes delivered to my doorstep each month makes a ton of sense.
IT ALLOWS ME TO HAVE FUN WITH FASHION: I can rent statement pieces and not feel any guilt around the cost per wear. If I want to rent something crazy for a specific event (leather shorts or a sequin jumpsuit), I can, because at the end of the month I’ll send it back. I always have something fun and new to wear, without any guilt when looking in my closet. I know we’ve all had that piece of clothing that cost more than we’d like to admit, and was only worn once that looks us right in the face every time we are in our closet. Well, no more.
NO MORE DRY CLEANING BILLS: Clothing rental companies, like Nuuly and Rent the Runway, take care of laundering the clothes for you. Sometimes I think we avoid wearing certain items for fear that we might spill on them or get a snag, but with rental you can wear special pieces on a more regular basis.
IT SAVES MONEY: I love me some Anthropologie, but the average cost of a single item at the store is more than a month of rental from Nuuly (which has clothing from Anthropologie, Free People, Urban Outfitters and the coolest selection of vintage pieces).
