2019 Highlight Reel
This year takes the cake for being my favorite yet!
On a personal level, our not so little Pair of Baers have totally transformed our lives! Our house is louder, messier and happier than we ever could have imagined. Their laughter, smiles and snuggles bring us so. much. joy.
On a professional level, after taking time off to settle into motherhood, I came back to organizing with so much renewed energy and excitement. I mean I’m always excited to help clients feel like they’ve got it together, but I felt like I could relate on a new level after becoming a mother myself.
A few of my favorite moments of the year are:
Giving Back to Many Deserving Charities
Whether it was profiling deserving organizations on my blog like Coburn Place and Grant’s Gifts, running social media for Women for Riley, volunteering as a personal shopper for Dress for Success, creating a beautiful organizational plan for the Gifted Gown or having a 2-year anniversary party benefiting Project Purse, I was proud to support these non-profits and charities in 2019! Being able to give back to the community that continually supports my dreams is my favorite.
I also delivered countless carloads of clients donations across the city and for that I must say, THANK YOU! There is always someone who can benefit from those items you just aren’t that into and it is so nice to be able to offer this service to clients.
Being Deemed the Best Local “Marie Kondo” by Indianapolis Monthly
Indianapolis Monthly featured The Baer Minimalist (TBM) in their Best Of… issue (for the 2nd year in a row). This time, they touted TBM as the “Best Local Marie Kondo.” Ultimate compliment!
Organizing a Dreamy Pantry + Closet for BAGI’s Home-A-Rama
Having the chance to work with Michele Koken, the visionary behind MBK Design and Executive Homes was just plain cool. This experience gave us the chance to pull in our favorite store in town, The Container Store, and highlight some unique ways to organize some of the most frequented rooms in the home.
Being Featured as Angie’s List Resident Organizing Expert
You might just see my smiling face come across your local news station, as part of a series on holiday organizing and how to get started with an organizing project in your home (one of the top resolutions people have in a new year, I might add). I was thrilled to be asked to serve as Angie’s List residential organizing expert in these spots and look forward to sharing them with you upon release.
Jumping On-Board with Indy Maven
When the team at Indy Maven approached me about being a partner, I couldn’t say, (okay, squeal) “yes” quick enough! What they envisioned launching was a platform connecting women to all of the goodness happening in our city, along with the ridiculously cool people making it happen. Written for women, by women, this is such a welcome addition to my inbox each week. And it’s completely freeee…subscribe here.
Not to mention the event series they have is right up our alley - Style Swaps and Book Swaps! Because you know we are all about giving new life to old things around here!
Launching an even BIGGER, BETTER Donation Guide
Each year, when we share our Donation Guide, we get messages from individuals calling our attention to charities we didn’t even know existed. So this year, the 2019 Donation Guide morphed from two pages into four.
We wanted to turn this handy-dandy guide into a client gift for the holidays and worked with an amazing designer, Lindsay Hadley, to create these cute little numbers (thanks to Print Resources for printing). And better yet, it doubles as a ruler!
Hosting a Ridiculously Fun 2-year Anniversary Party
For those of you who follow along on Instagram, you know I jumped on the Club Pilates train as soon as my doctor gave the thumbs up to start working out again post C-section. Anything to strengthen my back and core, because man, babies are HEAVY.
I knew that many of my clients and supporters could relate and wanted to treat them to an afternoon of self-care as we celebrated 2-years in businesses. We also gathered a ton of supplies for Project Purse, who’s mission it is to provide women in need with a purse filled to the brim with items they need, like bus passes, cosmetics, first-aid, & more!
We had the best afternoon and can’t thank Club Pilates North Indy enough for hosting our wild bunch.
Organizing Countless Spaces for New and Old Clients
We had the privilege to work with so many new and existing clients, transforming crowded rooms into organized + stylized spaces. Every session brings its own set of unique challenges (I’m looking at you, slanted ceilings in Broad Ripple bungalows), but we always manage to figure out a way to make your space function better than it did before. Here are a few before + after shots of some of the lucky spaces we whipped into shape this year.
Phew…what. a. year. I could not have done it without your support (and that of my family and friends). There is not a day that goes by that I don’t realize how lucky I am to do something I absolutely love! And for that, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
The Baer Minimalist helps busy families create ORGANIZED + STYLIZED spaces throughout Indianapolis. Her next organization project in her own home is the garage, and honestly, she can’t wait.
