The Baer Minimalist's Favorite Organizing Products

As we settle into the new year, I'm sure many of you have made resolutions that include things like decluttering your house, spending more time with family and friends or just being more organized/on top of things in general.

By starting small, with a single closet or space, you might be surprised at the motivation this causes in other areas of your life.

I recently had a friend reach out as she was stumped with how to organize her hall closet which needed to house everything from linens to beach towels to medicine for her family of four. She was several states away, so this was my first time tackling a virtual organization job and it was so fun to see the progress after a shopping trip on her end and about one hour of time organizing the closet.

Which leads me to sharing a few of my favorite products for organization (many of which I recommended in her space):

  1. 3-Tier Stainless Steel Expanding Shelf - Getting those spices organized in the pantry or in a cabinet can be SO tricky. It is hard to see what you have on hand and all of the sudden you find yourself with three jars of dill weed. Having the ability to SEE everything you have on hand is really a game-changer. Enter this expanding shelf that works for the amount of spices you have and can grow as your collection does. (Container Store)

  2. Lazy Susan - I've been so inspired by some of the other organizers I follow on Instagram, and have fallen in love with the use of the lazy susan. These come in multiple sizes depending on where you are shopping and can hold everything from oils/vinegars, to bathroom products, to cleaning supplies. They are a fantastic use for a small space! (Target)

  3. Huggable Hangers® Hangers - I confessed very early on that I asked for matching hangers for Christmas as a child. I have never looked back! I love the consistency that they bring to a closet. Your eyes are no longer distracted by the different styles and colors that you've collected over the years, but can focus on your clothing and all of the outfit possibilities instead. (Target)

  4. Over-the-Door Organizer - I love to utilize an over-the-door organizer in closets where there are lots of little items being housed. I recommend these to my clients all the time and have one in my office that houses tech accesories along with their warranties, batteries, sewing supplies and small office supplies. (Target)

  5. Woven Cubes - These cubes come in multiple sizes and colors and for the price point are the perfect accesory for any closet. I have used them in master closets to hold swimsuits or clutches, in the pantry to hold grab-and-go snacks as well as in a playroom to hold a little bit of this and a little bit of that. (Target)

  6. Chalk-Ink Classic Chalk Markers - These markers are EVERYTHING!! For a long time I stuck to white, but when I saw all of the color possibilities I had to splurge on this pack. Having the ability to label in a child's favorite color is such a FUN way to incorporate their personality into their space. These work on glass, plastic, chalkboards, you name it. (Amazon)

  7. Label Maker - My label maker hasn't failed me yet! Used to label all sorts of containers, this particular version has just enough bells and whistles to not be overwhelming. (Target)

  8. OXO Good Grips 10-Piece POP Canister Set - Nobody does plastic sealed containers better than OXO. This "Starter" Kit is from the Container Store is a great collection for the price, but I often find random sizes on the shelves of Home Goods & Marshalls. These are the perfect solution for a unified look inside your pantry and keep your pastas, cereals and snacks FRESH. (Container Store)

  9. Sterilite® Stack & Carry Tray Organizer - This houses everything I need to stay organized when I'm working with clients. On top of that it would be a perfect container to organize your office/craft supplies, batteries, barbie doll shoes, etc. It has three layers and the second two are completely open so larger items can fit! (Target)

  10. Command Hooks - These little life savers are always in my toolkit! Whether hanging aprons in a pantry, hats in a closet or reusable grocery bags in the mudroom, they are a quick and easy way to maximize a space.

And here is the before and after on that friend's space I mentioned - she took my suggestions and ran with it! I'm so very impressed!!

"I needed some direction and motivation to tackle this beast but once I did, thanks to your help, it went smoothly and was quite easy! My overall goal was to streamline the look and functionality of the space so the goal was met - even if it looks a little busy yet!"
